Mental Health in the workplace

 

According to latest research 1 in 4 people in England will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year. With 1 in 6 people reporting having experienced a common mental health problem like anxiety and depression in any given week in England.The impact on the individual, their family and friends is far reaching however there is also a cost to the economy. According to research by LSE in 2022 mental health problems cost the UK at least £117.9 billion annually. A report by Deloitte Research found that those employers that invest in mental health there is an average return of £5 for every £1 spent.

 

How can you support your workforce?

There is strong evidence to show that effective life style changes can have a massive effect on our mental health and emotional wellbeing. 

The wellbeing training I provide is based on the latest research combining an effective approach of workshop style training together with coaching techniques for creating lasting change. I provide courses that range from a 2.5 hour course to a 9 hour course delivered over 6 weeks.

 

For the last 20 years I have enjoyed teaching and training people of all ages. I pride myself on delivering training where the participants are active in their learning and are supported to make changes that will have great benefit to their physical and mental health and wellbeing beyond the training room.

I have experience of designing and delivering training for a variety of organisations in the private, public and third sector. Some of the organisations where I have delivered training include Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Wirral Education Authority, Arawak Walton Housing Association, Monksdown Primary School, Dawpool Primary School, Seacombe Children's Centre and Pinpoint Charity.

With my knowledge, experience and passion for positive mental health and wellbeing within schools I offer a "Wellbeing in Schools" training package. This package includes 1 to 1 wellbeing life coaching, stress management and wellbeing resilience training plus Mindfulness training. This is available to Governors, staff and parents. Stress Management - 3 hours 

This 3 hour course is a workshop style course designed to give the participants an understanding of the foundations for building positive changes in their physical and mental health. Each participant will work through a Wellbeing workbook and be supported in deciding on the first steps they want to take in making positive change. The workshop includes the following:

  • Understanding the stress response

  • The role of Nutrition

  • The importance of sleep

  • Effective exercise for mental health

  • Calming and relaxing techniques

  • Making new habits that last

 

Cost £300 (Up to 12 participants)

Wellbeing resilience - 4 hours

This 4 hour course is a workshop style course that build on the foundations of improving physical and mental health covered in the 2 hour course. Each participant will work through a Resilience Workbook and be supported in making effective change. This workshop includes the following:

  • Foundations of physical and mental wellbeing (Nutrition, sleep, exercise, relaxation)

  • The negativity bias and gratitude

  • Building a support network

  • The importance of being present (Mindfulness)

Cost £400 (Up to 12 participants)

Steps to greater health and wellbeing 6 week course - 1.5 hours per week

This workshop style course is designed to support participants in developing a good understanding of the foundations for improving their physical and mental health. Over the 6 weeks they will be supported in building a wellbeing toolkit and encouraged to create new habits. This course enables participants to build on new habits that have been created and to be supported in overcoming challenges that get in the way of making change. The workshop nature of this course empowers participants to support and encourage one another in making lasting change. This workshop includes the following:

  • Understanding the stress response

  • The role of Nutrition

  • The importance of sleep

  • Effective exercise for mental health

  • Calming and relaxing techniques (including Mindfulness)

  • Making new habits that last

  • Building a support network

  • Gratitude

Cost £900 (up to 12 participants)

Bespoke Training

You or the people you work with may need help and support in navigating through personal life changes. During times of change taking care of our health and wellbeing is even more important. I have experience of providing bespoke training designed to my clients requirements.

Life changes can include the following:

  • Returning to work after illness

  • Returning to work after parental leave

  • Retirement

  • Work/life balance 

  • Midlife changes (Menopause and children leaving home)
